From LA- Maria Ogneva (@themaria) and Macala Wright (@macala) will be speaking on behalf of our firm FashionablyMarketing.Me (@fashmarketing). Hacking Couture

Their will be two Hacking Couture workshops as part of New York’s  Fashion Bar Camp. On an open source environment the participants will build their Fashion Hacks based on the documented fashion codes.

Within the framework of Italian Fashion, we will translate into garments and/or accessories the brand codes of Gucci and Pucci. During the workshop all the participants are designers for the brand being hacked and are encourage to use, re-use and/or re-mix the code’s DNA.

No preview knowledge on fashion or sewing needed. Open to everyone and free of charge.

This workshop/talk is for those who are looking to learn about the basics of working with electronics and fabrics. We will focus on materials and how to avoid major pitfalls (i.e., placement, avoiding breakage, washing, power supplies, and prototyping a lot while spending a little). The workshop section will be devoted to creating a soft circuit kick-ass glove that lights up when you high five or make a fist (no soldering necessary). Trust us–it rules and all your friends will be jealous come winter.

    I've heard about this idea, hacking fashion, a couple of month ago and I was curious. I managed to attend one workshop that transformed my regular dress that I had in my wardrobe into a designer dress. The resemblance was astonishing. It became my favorite dress.
