It’s a tenet of Barcamp that there should be no line between presenters and attendees—that everyone should mix, meet each other, and feel comfortable. To encourage this, traditionally no schedule is set until the morning of the event. But since Fashion Camp is bringing a whole new world of people to the barcamp ethos, we thought it might be helpful to give everyone an idea of what to expect. Additionally, since we’re offering hands-on workshops which require supplies and planning, we’ve scheduled a number of workshops. The traditional “come early in the morning to secure your spot on the schedule” still applies, and Fashion Camp is very much built on presentations by all who want to speak, but to get the ball rolling you can look forward to a few exciting workshops and speakers that we’re excited to have join us:
Workshops
- Hacking Couture with Giana González
- 3D Printing with the Maker-Bot crew
- Simple LED Soft Circuits using conductive thread with Becky Stern
- creating a soft circuit kick-ass glove with Tracy Gromket & Marcus Pringle
- and more Soft Circuits with the Fashion Camp Wearable All-Stars
Presentations
Some great presentations have been suggested on the ideas.fashioncamp.org page, including Techniques for Fashion & Social Media, “How to Sell Online” E-Commerce Solutions, Green & Eco-friendly Fashion, and more! We’re also excited to have Alison Lewis, Nested Pieces with Ari Tabei, Soft Circuits and Solar-Power with Sonali Sridhar, and Jesse & Jessica from Nervous Systems.
