FashionCamp will be a BarCamp-style (usually) free community UnConference on trending, social media, tech & their future impact on design, making, presentation & sale of fashion, home & beauty sector! The first FashionCamp will be held later this year in New York, New York! An ad-hoc gathering Barcamps born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment, it is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.
At Barcamps you get an opportunity to learn about emerging Technology, share thoughts and concepts , even challenge existing belief that will shape Tomorros cultural, social and economic reality!

Barcamps are truly for the people, of the people and by the people, You will eventually decide the format, Those intresetd in volunteering or planning and organizing can register here. In the next few weeks we will be set up the wiki,
People register and everyone gets to participate in some form or another. That’s the difference with an unconference. In these events, the attendees are also the experts. Sessions get organized by the participants, and there are all kinds of ways to participate: hold a 30 minute session or demo, a 5 minute lightning talk, or participate in a panel discussion Join an informal round table talk, participate in demos and actual live events as well, who knows we may even develop our own presentation formats

FashionCamp can be held in a city near you (eg FashionCampNYC) If none exist in your area take the initiative host a FashionCamp In your area.

What Does It cost?
Fashioncamp is usually a free unconference in the tradition of BarCamp, but there are cost, which are normally covered by Sponsors and Donations ( we’re open t suggestions). Transparency is a factor and the organizing committee makes every effort to continue that tradition!
When?
Since we hope to include industry professionals as well as accommodate others from around the country, as well as the attract other international FashionCamp planners, We’re toying with the idea of hosting it sometime around NY Fashion Week, after Magic,. However that decision will be made by the Planning Committee.
Why?
We’ve attended and presented at Barcamps in NYC; Podcamp, Barcamp, Mobilecamp, Startup Camp, this year their is evn a LaidoffCamp near you; the idea for FashionCamp came from a table discussion with a individuals with specific skills in distinctive aspects, Fashion and home design, Entrepreneurial development, Apparel Production, and a couple of talented coders in the tech industry. Each component had something vital to bring to the table, but it occurred to us that we needed a forum for this type of cross sector interaction.
